Louise Norrell

I started studying jewelry at UGA and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Virginia Commonwealth University so long ago that I barely remember it.  My work has won several awards and been featured in several books and magazines, including Metalsmith Magazine, Lapidary Journal, and 1,000 Rings. I create my work mostly with the techniques of soldering, chasing, and forging.  My designs are influenced by the rich colors and textures of the tropics, old falling down buildings, and, for better or worse, always the comics.  Growing up I read every issue of Mad Magazine, the newspaper comics, and the New Yorker cartoons when I should have been doing my homework.
